An afternoon in the sun…

On Sunday at 1pm the rain was lashing and at 3pm the sun came out and we welcomed friends, family and neighbours to the farm for our first ever open afternoon. There were over 160 people who enjoyed meeting the sheep, hens, cows, goat, donkeys and a visiting pony. Trevor demonstrated the art of clipping sheep for showing. The BBQ was sizzling away while the Lisburn 16-person ukulele band played a variety of toe tapping numbers in the barn. The children had a counting quiz that took them round the animals, haystacks to climb on and a tractor and quad to sit on. Everyone was happy. The afternoon was an opportunity to share the vision of the social enterprise - a community on a working farm for the wellbeing of all and to encourage people to be part of the journey. We are looking to develop a play area for children, have picnic tables for people to linger over a coffee and to look at getting a polytunnel. For future events follow us on social media.
